/ / / We always love a vintage Turkoman rug, and this one is no exception. A repeating geometric floral design in the field is framed by a thick intricate border, and a sought after rich color combo make this rug feel elegant, grounded and slightly modern. An ultra soft velvety pile is the icing on the cake. I love thinking about the history of old rugs-where in the world have they been? What homes have they lived in? There is a certain romance and mystery to these hand knotted pieces of art.

/ / / condition: very good vintage condition. This rug does taper slightly on one side from 6’7” to 6’6”, there are some repairs as shown. It has been professionally cleaned, restored and the headends secured, ensuring many, many more years of life. I highly recommend using rug pad with grip backing to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping-using a rug pad will also protect your rug from damage, and therefore prolong the life of your rug. But really- get a rug pad! I have handpicked this rug specifically for its rustic, timeworn appeal. It may have other small imperfections- which is part of the charm of these old textiles.

/ / / pile: low/velvety

/ / / pile height: 3/8"

/ / / weight: medium/heavy (rug pad recommended)

/ / / colors: orange-brown terra cotta, garnet, oxblood, deep indigo blue, dark chocolate, almond white

/ / / The lighting conditions in the Experimental Vintage studio where these photos are taken are as follows: good natural light coming from a wall of large, south-facing windows on a sunny Portland day. This rug may look darker or brighter in your own space, depending on the natural lighting conditions in your home.
