vintage Tibetan rug, 5'10"x3'5"
Measures: 5’10” x 3’5”
100% wool pile on cotton foundation
/ / / A rare vintage Tibetan rug- with a table top and vase motif we have never seen before, and in a truly intriguing color palette of deep charcoal black and soft muted pastels. This beauty has gorgeous 3 dimensional relief in the pile, meaning the pile is cut by hand around some of the designs creating a 3D effect. These Tibetan rugs are made with a thick cotton foundation giving them a heavier handle and plush feel- truly even more magical in person.
/ / / condition: very good vintage condition, with a slight taper on one end 3’5” to 3’4”. This rug also has some slight curling on the edges that should be remedied by using a rug pad. It has been professionally cleaned, restored and the headends secured, ensuring many, many more years of life. I have handpicked this rug specifically for its rustic, timeworn appeal. It may have other small imperfections- which is part of the charm of these old textiles.
/ / / care: vacuum your rug carefully, avoiding the fringe. Spot clean with warm water and mild wool specific soap. I highly recommend using a rug pad to keep your rug in place, it will also protect your rug from damage, and therefore prolong the life of your rug.
/ / / pile: soft/thick/dense
/ / / pile height: 3/8”
/ / / weight: heavy (rug pad needed)
/ / / colors: charcoal black, faded charcoal, pale apricot, pale marigold, pale gold, pale sallow green, sand, cork, milk chocolate
/ / / The lighting conditions in the Experimental Vintage studio where these photos are taken are as follows: good natural light coming from a wall of large, south-facing windows on a cloudy Portland day. This rug may look darker or brighter in your own space, depending on the natural lighting conditions in your home.
