Khotan rugs are amongst the most collectible rugs- they were originally made in areas throughout the Silk Road, and so you can see the beautiful melding of Persian influences from the Middle East and Chinese influences of the Far East in these unique textiles. Pomegranates are typical in Khotan rugs, and signify both fertility and abundance. I love thinking about the history of old rugs-where in the world have they been? What homes have they lived in? There is a certain romance and mystery to these hand knotted pieces of art.

This rug is not perfectly rectangular, as seen in the photos. I highly recommend using a recycled felt rug pad with grip backing to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping-using a rug pad will also prolong the life of your rug.
