Vintage Tibetan Rugs
I’m a lover of pretty much all styles of vintage rugs, but Tibetan rugs hold an extra special place in my heart. Everything from their happy color combinations not found in rugs from other regions, too their bold large-scale motifs and extra plush handles, Tibetan rugs tell a story in a different way…
Tibetan rugs are unique in their knot style, the Tibetan knot, which makes for their extra plush and well-wearing piles. The symbolism found in Tibetan rugs is often rooted in Buddhist imagery and folklore, you’ll find themes of nature, protection, and harmony. The more I learn about Tibetan rugs, the more it makes sense to me why I feel my energy positively shift in their presence. I literally feel grounded and supported (held, even?), happy, and calm when one of these rugs is beneath me. Their visual presence in a room is mesmerizing~ Tibetan rugs have a very distinct look to them and tend to be the center of attention.
As much as I love vintage Tibetan rugs, I rarely get the opportunity to showcase them in the shop because they are really hard to find. Recently, I’ve teamed up with a friend overseas who has a small inventory of these sought-after textiles and we’ve been working hard to get them into the EV studio on a more regular basis to share with all of my fellow quirky rug lovers out there.
