Vintage Rugs at the Altar- Wedding Decor Inspired by Us
Springtime is certainly upon us here in Portland. I’m seeing cherry blossoms blooming and tulips making their first appearances. All this color is just what I need to keep my spirits high. With spring also comes a chance to refresh our homes and bring those happy vibes from the energy of the changing season inside our homes…
This all also has me thinking about how we are heading into wedding season! If you are getting hitched this year and need some inspiration for your wedding decor keep reading- (or if you aren’t but know someone who is please pass this journal post along to them). A vintage rug at the altar on your wedding day will add color, texture and personality to your photos. Maybe choosing a vintage rug with your sweetheart is a first purchase together towards the home you two will share- becoming an heirloom piece to have in your home for years to come. After the excitement of the wedding and all that planning is over with- this tender textile will always remind you of your special day. Every time you wash dishes standing on it at the kitchen sink or wake up and step onto it at your bedside you will be transported back to a little bit of that magical day.
After all, altar sized rugs are also the perfect fit for so many spaces around the house. So, what size rug should you pick for an alter rug? Well, that’s up to you and has a lot to do with the scale of your wedding venue, but foremost you and your honey both need to be able to stand facing each other on it. A 4x2 ish size rug is what I’d say is perfect for a smaller size rug and anything up to a 6x4 can be an option for most wedding venues as well. You might even think of adding a vintage runner rug to walk down the aisle on! Incorporating vintage textiles into your wedding decor has no limits really. A rug under the guest book table maybe? Or a lightweight vintage rug hanging as a backdrop at a photo booth set up even!
